My first fan art! And a quick book update...

This lovely picture was created and sent to me by a reader from Italy, Giorgia, and I just had to share it.  It's a beautiful rendition of Lenodara.

Also wanted to do a quick update on the book: I'm half-way through the re-write, but I'm not quite going to be done by the 12th.  I'm just getting the first chapters to the proofreader, back from the editor, If everything goes well, Enchanter should be out sometime next week.

Fingers crossed . . .

EDIT: Wanted to point out that the hold up here is ME, not my editor or proofreader.  They are both magnificent about getting my stuff back in a timely manner - compared to other authors, I've got a NASCAR pit crew working on these books.  It's the nut behind the wheel who keeps making revisions and additions and holing things up.  Just wanted to be clear about that Emily and Tim are outstanding.  It's me who sucks.

  1. Terry, you don't suck. When there is an outline chnage and an additional ten chapters are involded, a delay by a few days is expected. I am amazed that you are still close to your planned date - you rock! :)

Oh, btw, I still is tough to wait for the book! :)

  3. Wow , great art work for Lenodara. Maybe they will do Min, Ayla, Briga, Herus, Penny, Tindal, Rondal, Well check, all the main characters...

As far as release date, I'd rather wait & have a quality story than lots of books fast that have plot holes, no continuity, soon and so forth.

The series is worth the wait to read the next book. Don't want you getting burned out writing the stories.πŸ˜ƒ

  4. Your awesome Terry. Don't forget that you release multiple books a year along with side stories for it. That is just absolutely awesome. I mean some authors only release 1 book every one or two years. So your rate of writing is just great!

  5. Getting a book out the size you are doing in such a short time is amazing. Once you add other people in to the mix as well it it mind boggling.

  6. After searching around the web for Spellmonger Series , all I got was Amazon, Goodreads, Beyond the Bindings , & Terrys Blog, so thinking of Starting a Wiki page for the series , in spare time but didn't know if Terry would approve of it or not.

    1. We should make one like the star wars wiki with all the background and history on that would be cool to look it all up in one place instead of checking back though the books

  8. Just a warning that I'm planning on a retroactive re-editing of everything after Book 9. A few minor character names will be settled, I'll decide a permanent spelling of Sharuel/Shereul. and the whole "Iron Band/Iron Ring" issue will get decided.

I'm not one of those authors stifled by consistency or over-organization. But I do want to iron things out a bit before I write Book 10 . . . and begin the 3rd cycle of the series. Now that I've got enough background material to work with, I can sand off the rough edges before I get to the good stuff.

I've also got some background material that I'd be happy to share with the effort. Nothing too juicy and spoilery. but maps and drawings that didn't make it into the books.

I doodle. A lot. I've drawn just about every castle I've described. And y'all will enjoy some of the new maps, I think.

Up to chapter 28 on the rewrite . . .

  9. Awesome! Good to hear everything - the future plans and the status of the current book :). I did figure out that you would prefer re-organization over consistency. :)

This is one of the series that I constantly re-read and Magelord is my absolute favorite so far. I know I have said this before but I still want to let you know - in case you are looking for any alpha/beta readers, I would love to help. The sooner we can help get sand out the rough edges and back on to writing, it would great for us :D.

That being said, this would be a great time to set things straight, fix whatever you want to fix for the future direction the series could potentially take. I cant wait to see how things unfold in the future of Min and the rest.

  11. Min de facto creating new pantheon. Up that time with only two Narasi Gods, but in spoiler was suggestion including Imperial God of Magic. Also I have questions:

    1. Pantheon with what proportion Narasi/Imperial Gods?
    2. What with reaction other Gods and belivers - on not including them?
    3. At last - Min apotheosis?

    P.s. Sorry for grammar.
    P.s.2. Enchanter now!!! ;)

    1. My pet theory is that min is going to have an accident which will change him physically in some unforeseen ways...someone needs to be a match for korbal....

Lets give this item a strength enchantment men whoops backfired on myself... lol

Hope today is the day :)

    2. I think you will both be surprised. Finished the second draft tonight, doing final corrections. Should take a couple of days.

    3. If i am right..i will be suprise. If i am wrong...I will be suprised.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Does anyone else want to share their theories.

    4. My pet alternative for apotheosis is ironite quasi-crystallization like Sharuel.

Suprise is good, but in my opinion series very strong point is realistic and logical fantasy world. A very few situation in deux ex machina kind. ;-) I hope this suprise have been reasonable, as up that time. Another strong point in story is very likeable main character. Min is perfect in imperfect - very human and weak (sometimes egoistic) in emotions and reactions, but mostly good in deeds.

A couple days - I have hope for time dilatation... ;-)

Thanks for answer and future suprise.

    5. I actually like that theory. But it would probably along the lines of merging different things. Like snowstone, mins witchsphere, dragon blood merging with Mins body. I only include dragonblood because i assume it would give you some magic resistance so you min doesn't explode in the process.

    6. Probably right. But Living God versus Dead God... ;-)

    7. On the other hand, if it looks like a god, have power like a god, and is immortal like a god, then it probably is a god... God Emperor of Calidore? And Min battle steed. Maybe dragon? Dragonriders of Calidore??? ;)

      Seriously:

      1. In Min place I would have made enneagrammatic backup copy of myself and thereby in the event of death automatic revive as some kind Grand Element/God.
      2. Min is excellent spellmonger (common and general magic), very good thaumaturge and warmage, good enchanter and sex mage, competent blue mage (mind mage) and developing theurge and enneagramm specialist (elementalist/summoner?). What if supplement that curriculum with brown magic? Archmage on dragon steed is mind-blowing...

    8. I love the idea of a dragon steed but i didn't want to voice it,mainly because its a pretty common theme... but Terry's dragons so far have been, excuse my language... fkn badass.

None of the partnership cliche either... Min better subjugate it with pure power.

Terry probably sitting there going thing we are so far off...lol

      Delete
    9. Ehh. But Terry looks like master in adding of uniquenes to cliche. I.e. Hawkriders, Dead God, Magical Stone (ironite), Elf (Alka Alon), Dwarf (Stone Folk)/ Dark Dwarf (Iron Folk), halflings (Tal Anon), Goblin (gurvani), Orc (war form of gurvani), Valley People (maybe analogue of Westernesse folk)... Not very original motives, but enchanced in very fantastic way and tell in very fun, logical and interesting manner.

P.s. Spellmonger series beg for computer games... :D

    10. MOre on originality of Spellmonger Series:

      - Logic and reason in fantasy literature is - in my opinion - pretty rare, but in this series have that plentiful;
      - Characters are behaving in human and self-consistent way.
      `Errare humanum est`. Nobody is perfect, so persons in story make a many mistake and erring in various things, but make this in realistic ways;
      - World of Calidore is builid in very consistent and advanced manner, on a par with Middle Earth, Westeros, Kalvan Timeline and Norfressa (Weber).

    11. ....okay I don't understandwhat you are going on about. I never said anything about the world at all. It was only my view on dragons. I feel you have misunderstood me so therefore I will not post anymore

    12. Sorry. I understood you (I think), but by the way I wrote too much think from yourself on Spellmonger Series. And my english is - let`s say - very moderate. I agree with you on dragon topic. Best regards - Maciej Lewandowski from Poland (Warsaw).
