SPECIAL AUDIOBOOK BONUS OFFER! The Spellmonger's Yule, Read By John Lee!

As a special promotional offer by Podium.com, a special audiobook of my recent short story, The Spellmonger's Yule, is now being offered by audfans.com!  It's a free sign-up, and you get the entire short story (for new fans, this will contain some serious spoilers, but will also introduce you to the direction the series takes)

This is an amazing endorsement of my work by my publisher, and I feel grateful that they invested in this promotion.  Please show them it isn't wasted by taking a listen.

And yes, I've started Necromancer.  No, I don't know when I'll be done.

  1. Ooooh, nice.. Spellmonger's Yule was probably my favorite of those short stories. :)

  2. Will the next Audio book be book 3 or will they do more of the short stories? I am on the fence which I would like more because I seem to remember there are a lot of events that get skipped before book 3 that only are shown in the short stories. Like when Minalin gets the his stone upgraded to sphere status.

I will buy either way lol - I am really enjoying this audio review of the books!

    Thanks again

  3. We definitely need some forums for this series.. :P

I was wondering when Minalan is going to start using his enchanter's guild to make weapons and armor for non-mages. At least for his own baronial soldiers and knights. Such as weapons that wont break, armor that protects his men better, etc. So far the only thing he's done in that regard is for knight mages like Sire Cei.

Also, is Minalan basically the Baron of Greenflower (or its regent) until his son comes of age? Or perhaps that barony is now a "cadet barony" of Sevendor?

    1. I think technically the Arcane Orders have assumed ownership of the estate with Taren acting as the Regent

  4. One doesnt want to tell the world that he were raped by the Baroness of Greenflower so he has two options: the baby becomes his ward or he takes direct control as head of the arance orders (remember Dunselens expreriments and the blue "otherworld stone")
Taren the sage seems to spend a lot of time there, maybe they made him representative regent or whatever...

  5. Does the game Rushes played at the inn have any real life origins?

  6. Thanks. I enjoyed it...I thought the reader was better than some of the reviewers...but not as good as reading it myself. Although it was a bummer to learn that I was mispronouncing all those words. Necromancer coming out anytime soon???

    1. When can we expect Neceomancer? I know as one of your fans I'm a pest. Just really addicted to the series.

  10. I am betting it will be updated next week....although it will really just tell us how much longer we need to wait for the book....

  11. One thing I would love to see that could possibly be released before Necromancer to help us get through this torturous and excruciating wait would be some more illustrations. I found it extremely helpful to get the sketches of the cummocks before Enchanter was released to help picture them. I would love to see some more images of certain items to help visualize them. For example, no matter how many times I read the description, I cannot for the life of me picture what a proper wizard hat is suppose to look like. The "four points with three sown up" always confuses me. Also, the difference in mageblades between Twilight, Rondal's, and Tyndal's would be very cool also!!

    1. He's working on an atlas for the series right now which should be pretty nice.. The description of the wizard's hats in this series always reminds me of a jester's hat :P

  12. Terry, I'm such a nag but really, I've read Enchanter, Court Wizard, shadow mage and spellmongers yule at least 6 times since april. I've no idea how many times I've read the previous books but enough that I can discuss the books in great.detail. hawk lady has only been read thrice since it.hasnt.furthered the story. I'm desperate for.the next book. Other fantasy books have no appeal. Please finish Necromancer and pit it our there. I know I'm nagging but I'd really appreciate the next book that furthers the story.

    2. Kidding, of course.. But I'm sure it wont be out until near the end of this year, if not early next year.. He's barely even really started on it after all

    3. As of a few moments ago, I hit the 25% completed mark on Necromancer. To be honest, if I can keep going at this pace on both it and TO, I might have Necromancer out by the end of the summer. No promises, of course, but that's what I'm shooting for.

    4. Thats.. really really fast. :) I still wish you would split the book in half, or simply offer the first half of it for those who want it and then release the entire book later, especially if its only going to be a couple of months between the release of that first half and the second.

  13. Can someone please tell me the correct order to read all of the books and short stories? I just finished warmage and am having serious trouble finding where the short stories fit in. I don't want to spoil or miss any plot details. Thanks!

    1. Read River Mists of Talry, Victory Soup, Spellmonger's Wedding, found in "The Road to Sevendor", which is an anthology of those three plus some others. Then read Spellmonger's Honeymoon before moving on to Magelord and the rest of the books.

Spellmonger's Yule takes place right before the book he is currently writing (Necromancer), so read that after you finish Court Wizard..

    2. Thank You! I was thinking the short stories were spread out over the entire series. I'll get The Road to Sevendor on my kindle tonight!

  14. Hello
I am reading Enchanter right now and i was wondering what hapend to Genly why is it extinct? Can someone tel me?

    1. Genly was Railan the Steady's holding and a lot of the ilk that thought like him. It was also all converted to snowstone I'm sure our favorite Spellmonger moved the few left after the treason off that land to secure the snowstone.

    2. Yes that's right. After the betrayal Railen and a number of his folk were executed. Others were banished or went to the iron ring if I recall correctly. Genly was closed after that so that the precious ownership of the "snowdirt" and snowstone clay reverted to Min. I think they talk about this in high Mage briefly

    3. you have a few points that were touched in enchanter without the background in former books (Olmeg becoming yeoman ect) and the order of magical fairs has been wrong since the High Mage (High Mage has the 3 magical fair, the second fair never happened)

  15. Why aren't all of the Spellmonger books available as audiobooks? Only the first 2 are available on Audible. Most authors release the audiobook at the same time as the print version. I am in the position of anxiously awaiting the release of audiobooks where the print versions have been available for several years. Are books 3-9 going to be released soon or even at all?

    1. The books have been out far longer than the Audiobooks. They are starting to catch up now so Book 3 should be out soon I would think. The Author is working on the latest book (Book 10) so it will probably be a while until the Audiobooks are caught up.

    2. The third book, Magelord, is already available for preorder on audible.com, slated to come out on July 25th.

Terry has just submitted the fourth, Knights Magi, to podium publishing for production. I imagine it'll take 2-3 months for them to finish and release it. (There was about three months between Warmage and Magelord).

He is also currently working on rectifying many typoes and other errors in all of his books and is currently on the 5th for that project, before he submits that to Podium publishing for audiobook production.

  16. I used to carry a paper back book around all the time because I was an avid reader. I even got in trouble when I was a kid because I was always reading in school because the public school coursework was so boring and easy. Now I am a disabled veteran with a spinal cord that is torn apart at the lumbar level. The ongoing, constant pain is so bad that I can't read books anymore because I can't focus at all on what I am reading. So I have been listening to audiobooks for the past 6 years. It's becoming increasingly difficult for me to find books that I enjoy, so I really hate it when I have to wait for the next volume from a good author. Spellmonger is my latest frustration. Please crank out the audible versions as soon as possible. I am anxiously waiting along with what I expect are a great number of fans. Thanks for the great stories.
