Knights Magi Now Up At Special Price

It's up: http://www.amazon.com/Knights-Magi-Spellmonger-Terry-Mancour-ebook/dp/B00IX0OK5A/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1394489152&sr=1-1

There will be one minor revision to correct a couple (ok, several) grammatical and spelling errors which will be made in conjunction with the final release, but otherwise it's good to go.  190,000 words.  Sex.  Violence.  Academics.  Virgin Goats.  It's got it all!

Here's the really, really crappy cover, to be replaced with a REAL cover as soon as my artist is done with it:

Yes, I know it sucks.  That's . . . OK.  For now.

But it's a good book.  I think you'll like it.  Or absolutely hate it.  Your call.

But it will be up for $2.99 for about 48 hours, to make up for the pricing issues on Magelord.  Then it will go up to $3.99 with the slightly revised version.  Fair warning.

Thanks for all of the support.

Terry

  2. Yeeeaaaahhhh. Can we still email you with the spelling edits?? If so how would you like us to format that?

  3. Go ahead. However you'd like to format it is fine - and note that most of the errors in the first half have already been corrected in the unpublished revised version.

And don't forget, folks if you want to wait for the revised version, you can always get it now and then just don't read it for a few days. That way you can take advantage of the lower price. IF you can wait that long . . .

    1. I definitely can't wait, which means I'll just read it twice.

  4. Did... did you name Duin, Huin, and Luin after Donald Duck's nephews...?

  5. Amazing read! One sitting and I read it all.

  7. Just finished reading in one sitting, i'm not going to lie Mr Mancour you're series is among my favorite i have been waiting for this with as much anticipation as i have Words of Radiance.
I was a bit put out when i found we dropped Mins story for this book, well now all i need to know is if we get more books with Tyndal and Rondal because that was bloody good.

    1. Tyn and Ron will both feature in future shorts as well as individual novels...and they'll be regulars in the Min books, now that their characters are well-established.

Thanks - I was trying to do a good "buddy movie" book that you didn't necessarily have to have read the first three to enjoy. Hope I hit that mark.

  8. I was wondering if the story was supposed to jump from the end of the Maramor part to the epilogue? If so will the Taragwen part refered to in the epilogue be a short story later?

    1. Yes, the story will be "The Ugliest Maid In Castal".

  9. Yes it was a good buddy flick, had a great time reading the story, except for the last part where min is back it erked me. I liked that they would stand up to min for what they believed but taking over another land and creating another order without any input ( cause I thought that since they were basically getting evrything from min that would make him thier lord especially since they are apprenticed to him if not well then I need to rethink how I understood your books)

    1. Think of it this way. They serve Min in two ways. As knights in the feudal society and as apprentices in the trade. If you notice when they are learning more about chivalry, Sire Cei explains it to them. In the epilogue, they used their relationship with Min in both ways to solve the problem.

  10. Just finished KM and i loved it, I had been wanting a more extensive look into the lives of Min's apprentices ever since 'River Mist of Talry' and 'The wizard of Birchroot Bridge' only made me want it more and now lo and behold my prays have been answered; I do want to know how the birth of Min's daughter went and how the transport of their 'special charge' went ;-) i think i knw who it is..... Thanks for the great story Mr. Mancour cant wait for the next one

    1. Do you think the 'special charge' is that goblin that Min captured?

      Delete
    2. More than likely. If it was isily, I imagine charges would have been the proper grammar as they'd have most likely brought the baby as well.

    3. Yeah I agree. They said the guest was from the order of Gorbarba - i think I spelled that right - and I'm sure that in a previous book they mentioned that Gurkarl - the Goblin POW - was being held by the Gobarba Order.

    4. that what i think too, lets not forget the prophecy about the first goblin to set foot in the 'sacred cave'

    5. If true then Gurkarl is going to have alot of fun in sevondor with all those bovali refugees. Can't imagine they are going to look to kindly on a gurvani living there. Even if he is 'living' there in a dungeon...

  11. I have a question regarding Minalan's Magical library. Its talked about a fair bit in this book the Min's Magical Library is very sub standard. My question is why hasn't he fixed this yet? He's a mage wouldn't that be an important item on his list?

From what I understand their were entire series of libraries that the censors had in their main HQ. I'm sure it said in Magelord that in some cases the entire library of mage's were packed up in their entirety and shipped for storage in the Censor's vaults. So why didn't Minalan ask whoever is running the place to send him a complete set of all the essentials and anything else that they thought he might be interested in? If the censors packed up whole libraries - and I would guess that most libraries would have certain standard books - they why hasn't he asked a set to be shipped to him. Especially if as he claims he wants Sevendor to become another Magical Academy or University.

Alternatively the guy is stinking rich. Why hasn't he just bought a new set. Ordered them via Mind to Mind communication with someone in a major city and had they shipped. He could pay for it with money they he deposits in a bank or something - as this is a non-Christian society I assume that the rules that crippled the early development of banking would not apply in this feudal society.

    1. Quite frankly, while he has a bunch of books (and is getting more all the time) Sevendor Castle really isn't the best place to warehouse that many. That was why Pentandra was building a tower for the Order of the Secret Tower in Sevendor: partially to house Min's library and partially to have a comfortable place to sleep and live without running afoul of Alya. There will be more about this in the future. Indeed, I'll probably devote an entire short story to it.

    2. I wasn't thinking so much the entire library more the essential core texts that he would need - kind of like how every lawyer would have certain key texts.

I'll be interested to read that book when it comes out. In the mean time - during knights magi - has Min doing much research and self improvement. I know he's a damn good mage but I know a big part of his power at the moment is all from the witch sphere - or whatever it has been turned into now.

BTW did he ever work out and use the extra spell components that were installed in the sphere after the upgrade?

  12. I do have to ask about an impression I got from the book, in it, it felt as though Rondal grew tremendously in strength/skill as a mage and warrior, yet Tyndal only somewhat changed at all. His ability to read books quickly, and his newfound chivalry. Not that I dislike Rondal at all, just seems like he is now better than Tyndal at everything, except getting girls.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think that Rondal's change was more prominent, yet the changes that Tyndal went through were noteworthy as well. His were more internal I believe. He learned humility and respect. Those are big changes in any person.

  14. a) What/when is the next book?
    b) Will it have Min as a first person character?
    c) Did Min every improve magically? (skill wise, not power wise).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. a) the next book will be either Hawkmaiden (a short YA novel with Dara as the MC) or High Mage (a much longer book). Probably by fall, though that could change. But there will be more short stories before then.

      b) Yes, Min will be the main character, first-person of High Mage.

      c) Yes, Min does improve magically, especially after working with the Alka Alon. That's part of what happens in High Mage.

  15. Honestly, I never even thought to look for a new book so soon, in fact when I did see it, I assumed it was a novella and didn't realize my error until I started reading it. I'm still only half way through it, but I was impressed enough that I felt an additional five star review was certainly warranted. Congrats on a job well done and thank you for this excellent addition to an already excellent series Terry. I think your characterization of Rondal and Tyndal are fantastic, your plot is excellent so far, and the editing is quite good. Once again, thank you and keep up the good work. I look forward to your next novel and wish you much success.
