Spellmonger gets a Discord server! New fansite!
It is my pleasure to announce a new fan site for the Spellmonger series on Discord!
Constructed and managed by superfan and recognized Knight of Sevendor, Sir Aaron of Schwartz, this site will have both fan and some "official" content, including, mayhap, a few exclusive short stories, eventually. While it's a work in progress, I look forward to seeing a more comprehensive forum on Spellmonger, as I develop and write the second decalogy. Fan input is hugely important to me (I get 4-5 fan letters a day, now) and I really want to know what parts you like best, which ones you don't, and which ones you hate.

Work continues on all projects, albeit more slowly than anticipated. I had a busy summer, and nearly lost some data with a hardware crash, but things are nearly back on track. I'm working to revise Court Wizard for audiobook at the moment, but I'll be back to composition etc. before you know it.

ReplyDeletediscord was initially created to help players of large online games such as world of warcraft organize large scale multiplayer events. Over time, it developed into a general chatroom software. basically, plug that link into your browser, and create an account on the site it takes you to. Once thats done, the link should take you right to the ghost rock. there are several chatrooms I have already set up there, including both official art and a fan-art channel, general series discussion, discussion of the newest book in the series, places to note spelling and continuity errors, and a few others

DeleteSeptember or November would be my guess, they seem to take about 3 months from the release of the earlier books. of course, the books are longer so they might end up taking longer to produce.

Correction suggested for Necromancer
In Necromancer a mountain of snowstone is removed from Sevendor’s southern ridge. Through the new gap you can now see the domain of Hosendor. The problem is that Hosendor is due east behind Sevendor's eastern ridge.
Necromancer location 2192:
Sea Folk emissary: “I took note of the southern ridge behind of the hostel I stayed in last night (Southridge or Sevendor Town). It appears to be solid snowstone, and has no settlements on the slopes. Could the stone be harvested from there?”
Suggested edit:
Sea Folk emissary: I couldn’t help but notice that a rogue deposit of snowstone makes up a goodly portion of your distant eastern ridge. That sector appears to be quite solid and has no settlements on its slopes. Could the stone be harvested from there?
or
Sea Folk emissary: The snowstone effect seems to have radiated uniformly without degradation from the place of your son’s birth only to be abruptly confined by distance. Update: Just finished the first editorial pass through Court Wizard, should have it to Podium for conversion to Audiobook later this week. Enchanter audiobook will be released sometime this autumn. Will announce the official date as soon as I get it.
I'm only guessing but I think this means that Enchanter has already been passed to Podium.

We just cant decide what they look like by how they are described in the books, can you please do a few sketches for us so we can know for sure what you are talking about?

ReplyDeleteHad a strange thought, Min could become the nirasi God of magic. The major gods of magic are all little known cults, so to less worldly peasantry and nobility if he keeps doing these remarkable things and having jongluers tell stories (that will get out of hand like in road to sevendor) a cult and religion about magic could arise for min.
ReplyDeleteThis idea came up before (I had it on my mind several times at least). It feels REALLY likely to me. His work is becoming the symbol of magic in service of the people (and a spark in the darkness against seoul). The real question is if his wife is going to become a godess too (lets here not forget that she maybe also has become a avatar for the celestial mother).

(Anyone else still remembers when 2-3 books were published every year? Then came Court Mage and audible.
PS: Always wanted to mention that the ending of Court Mage makes no sense in regards to Ishi; Ishi told the Spellmonger that she wanted her girls to find permanent partners/husbands and this suddenly became an issue...
I always chalked that up to Ishi's fickle nature. Remember when they get married they leave her sphere and enter Trigg's....so while she may want her girls to fall in love and what more symbolizes love (not lust) than marriage?? And marriage is Trygg's realm of influence.

DeleteJust rereading Court Wizard and came across 2 chapters that seem out of order. "The politics of Alshar" and "The Council of Verone" seem to be swapped in order. The politics of afshar chapter focuses on the post dinner/riot conversation of brigga's day and set up for striking back at the rats. And council of Verone focuses on the riots of brigga's day and the early party.
