High Mage Audiobook available for Pre-Order!

The link you all have been demanding: the preorder for the Audiobook of High Mage!  Get it now!

In other news, I've about wrapped up the corrections on Journeymage audiobook, and it should be released directly.  No, I don't know how directly.  But Podium is cranking these out as fast as I can revise them.  Still cranking on Sky Rider (plenty of Spring left) and other stuff.

  3. Pre-ordered.

I really like the new covers but I confess I do miss seeing the Magelight above the castle though.

  4. I am so excited to get on to High Mage. I picked your book on a whim when Audible suggested it to me, and I can say that you have helped rekindle a love of high fantasy, magic, sarcasm, and realism that burns inside of me.

  5. Awesome! I've been waiting for this! Thanks for the update!

  6. Alas I couldn't wait so I just used the kindle version with googles accessibility text-to-speech. It's not as good as proper audible narration but you get use to it.

    1. Tried it. Less than 5 minutes and I just decided to read the book instead.

    2. Yea I tend to only use the auto-narration when driving, but i'd still buy the audio books as the nattration gives the charaters more life.

  10. Is there a timeline or reading order somewhere? There are gaps in between, and sometimes in, the books that are kind of irritating me. I love the characters, but to pick up months later when something seems to have happened and only getting snippets is starting to get to me.

  13. Any chance of an update on how the writing of your new book is going?

    Replies
    1. Oh, all right. To be honest, slower than I anticipated. I'm more than half way through with Sky Rider, but stuff keeps happening to slow me down. It's coming, it's coming. So is more stuff. And audiobooks. And maps. And . . . and more stuff. Promise.

Yeah, that wasn't very helpful at all. Sorry.

  16. Hi Terry could you let us know about any progress with the third book in the Tanith Series? Trask's Odyssey? I'm sure there are a lot of others like me who are looking forward to it.

  17. Hello everyone. I would like to announce, (with Terry's blessing) the formation of a Spellmonger Discord. For those who don't know what that is, discord is a voice and text chatroom program that started as a way for MMO gamer guilds to voice chat coordinate large raids. over time, it evolved into a general purpose chatroom software for all things nerdy. It is completely free to join and participate.

However, I will not be opening it up for invitation just yet, because before this thing goes public, I'm going to need moderators to ensure the chatroom can stay civil.

If you are interested in ( and more importantly, experienced at) being a moderator for this chatroom, which I am calling "The Ghost Rock", please email me at
    talesofcallidore@gmail.com

Here's a little extra surprise: As soon as we can get this thing fit for public access, I am going to set up a channel in the discord for posting fanart!!

    Sincerely,
Sire Aaron Of Schwartz and Sevendore, Knight Mage

  19. Hi Terry,

I bought the first five audio books and would have bought the next five if they were on audible. Please continue your work! I appreciate your style of writing and the witty humor you employ in the spell monger. I do look forward to buying the entire series in print in anticipation of the audible books.

    Thanks

    Brandon

  20. Thanks for the update Terry, always appreciated and in reading your Jan update I am glad to hear Thaumaturge is in the beginning stages. I am on my first re-read of the Spellmonger series and its just as fantastic the second time through!

  21. We've set it up, but I'm not opening it up just yet... At least not until I've got a few reliable mods.

I can confirm some of the features I'm planning. I'm going to have a channel for people to put contributions to the spellmonger wiki, for people who don't know how to do that on their own

A channel for grammar/name/spelling errors in the books

a channel for speculation on future books

A channel specifically for spoiler discussions on necromancer. General story chat can contain spoilers for any book other than the most recent ones. The time limit on spoilers for magelord or knights magi has past

  23. im enjoying your books thoroughly but i have just one problem, i google image searched "Terry Mancour" and there isnt a single picture of you holding a sword over your head. every good fantasy author needs one of those.

  24. Terry, can we have an update? I know you are plotting, planning, and putting pieces in place, but while it's all good a word or two to loyal clients would go along way to keep morale steadfast. Okay, just desperate for a good read. No one else delivers the goods as well as you.

    1. I too would love an update from Terry... but I'm sure he's still working hard on Sky Rider and is probably close to the completion of it.. Possibly he is trying to get it finished before giving us an update.

    2. I hope you're right...but an update would be greatly appreciated right about now. I need to get my reading timeline in alignment with his publishing timeline...I don't want to restart the series too soon or too late.

  25. Any update on the next audio book?

  26. I’ve just finished listened to the first five Spellmonger books back to back and loving them all, excellent writing by Terry Mancour and also narrative by John Lee. Although I love reading a good book, I just don’t get time between a busy job and family life, so loving these audio books and can’t want to listen to Journeymage on audiobook...

Does anyone know a release date on Audible please?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey, I've read all the Spellmonger books out so far, and at least some of the short stories, and there seem to be these weird gaps that imply short stories that I can't find. For example, there are scenes where people talk about a cross dressing goblin, and the whole thing with the kid who woke up the dead elf dude, and I got no idea where these things came from. Characters are introduced in media res more and more in later books. I feel like it's obvious that there's gotta be some short story/stories about these things. Have they not yet been published?

    1. There are stories that Terry simply hasn't gotten around to writing, just yet.. Such as when Tyndal and Rondal go to retrieve the Kasari idol, which is where they meet Ruderal who is being forced to help find Korbal.

      Delete
    2. Oh, and if you didn't catch it, that idol is supposed to be Smoky the Bear. :P

      Delete
    3. Ah, thanks! I am fine with waiting on the short stories, so long as they weren't in some obvious collection i didn't know of.

      Delete
    4. Their is an anthology called Road to Sevendor that has events such as Ronald building the Birchroot bridge and Minalins marriage although the last story I that happens after highmage and an individual story after Enchanter

      Delete
  28. Why are you releasing still more books when 2-year old "Court Wizard" still reads like a draft? Dozens of continuity errors and hundreds of typos, misplaced words and grammar errors that any old spell-checker could catch? I've enjoyed your story, but this book is a disaster! You should be embarrassed. Fire your editor and get a spell checker! "Enugh" said? (Quoting yet another proofreading error.)

  29. Hi: wanted to let you know that I look forward to the rest of the audio books. Great narrator. Also that Audible seems to only list the first 3 books as the whole series. I had to actually enter the name of the most recent book to get it to come up and purchase it.

  30. I'm very much looking forward to Enchanter and the following audiobooks. It seems like Audible has been releasing books every 2-5 months since February of last year. And Journeymage was released in August of this year. So, if Enchanter is in the making, I think it's reasonable to estimate that it might be released any time between now and the end of the year. I hope it's soon. I'm hungry for this narrative.

Terry if you are reading this, thanks for doing this work. Your novels are so satisfying and are good companions. I appreciate the moral ambivalence of Min's disposition toward goblins. For me, it seems coded to comment on indigeneity and the legacy of colonialism from a white settler perspective; imagining the anti-colonial moment. As a white man in colonized California, it speaks to my white guilt/anxiety in interesting ways. Regardless of the interpretation, it's good reading. Thanks for your dedicated creative work.
