  6. And having re-read it again, I'm wondering what happened to Garkesku the Mediocre after being shown to be a "Magelord" of a crappy little town of Soulless. Wondering if he'll show up in the series again at a later time.

    1. I am hoping for a very violent mage duel with Rondal that ends in about 15 seconds with Rondal obliterating him with a powerful spell....as an after thought...because he was holding his own with a cadre of shamans.

    2. That is a great image - it would be would be such sweet powerful irony.

    1. Personally I am hoping to see Min beat Garky like a dirty rug

    2. I am sure he could...but the poetic justice of the former apprentice that was held back by poor training from a crappy master just plain ol' whippin' him without even thinking about it - - that's something that would be good to read. I am sure that Terry will fill the scene with suitable dialogue and drama. But the rate at which things are moving I would expect the CM to become almost aware of things in the next few books and directly assisting Min...he would just so over match Garky that it would be anticlimactic. We'll just have to wait and see...hopefully not too long.

    3. I have to agree. Not saying I wouldn't like to see Min slap him around a little but would really like to see a fight to the death between Rondal and Garkesku. Where at the end Garky gets impaled and then Ron pulls the blade free and walks away without a second glace while Garky begs with his last breath for Ron to come back and save him.

Also while I expect Garky to lose badly I think he will still put up some fight. He did manage to kill that Urgolnosti shamen to get his tainted piece of irionite and has now had 8 years exposure to the nastier side of Gurvani Magic now as well and judging by his actions in the siege he will have a few tricks with which to hold Rondal off - albeit temporarily.

    4. There is another posibility: he and some shamans try some foul ritual and screw up! not in the sense that it doesn't work but that it does! basically they summon or do something they can't control and die horribly grothesque painfull death, the kind of thing that should be censored and the heroes wouldn't do (much as that scum deserves it) because they are the good guys.

  9. Terry are you going to publish the first chapter of Hawklady as a teaser as you did with previous books? I know the first chapter is in the end of Court Mage am just curious if we are going to get any more teaser material.

  10. Looking forward to seeing the Atlas of the Five Duchies you're working on..

Hard to place exactly where Sevendor is in relation to Alshar and the other duchies...

    2. I agree. Normally I buy all my books over kindle but I would want to purchase the hardcopy of the atlas especially if its done in colour :)

  11. Terry, I just wanted to say, I love your series! It was recommended to me by my friend who is a huge fantasy buff. he claims the series as one of his favorite and considers Magelord one of the best fantasy accountings of kingdom building in the genre. And as I have just, this morning, finished devouring the Warmage audiobook and started in earnest on Magelord, I find myself wholeheartedly in agreement. I'm already more than a quarter through the book and I haven't managed to put it down; who would have thought that the story of a wizard building a fief would be so incredibly riveting?

That all being said, there is but one glaring question I've found myself asking over and over since Spellmonger: What in the heck does a mage's hat actually look like?

The many descriptions seem to point at some sort of variation of the traditional conical wizard hat, though I find myself trying to imagine in my head if the three of the four points are part of the brim, and then thus sewn upwards to a pointed crown, or perhaps if they're all separate cones like a jester's hat.

The books descriptions seem to point (no pun intended) at the headdress being rather silly looking, which seems to harken to the jester style, but, that's only a guess.

If by chance you see this comment, would you mind setting my imagination at ease?

  14. Is chapter 6 in the audio book out of order or is it a flashback? There are several things introduced that were already present in previous chapters.
