Quick Question for my fans . . .
What are the best, most memorable quotes from the series? The ones you'd like to see on, say, a T-shirt or mug? Lance wants to know.

The line from the short story. " the client is the client, and hes a bloody arsehole"
ReplyDeleteOr "the client is the client, and the client is king"
Loved them. Summed up clients nicely

ReplyDeleteHow do you hurt a belligerent lack of photons?
ReplyDeleteAnd the best one, which I've taken as my own "there are no atheists in a shieldwall"
Although that one isn't really the kind of thing I would want to a tee
I would LOVE to see a t-shirt with that one.
DeleteI agree with Fishmad122
ReplyDelete"There are no atheists in a Shieldwall" is a damn good line.
Although it is still a derivative of "There are no atheists in foxholes"
Rereading magelord. “Still, a man likes to be able to drink at three or four establishments without walking more than a hundred paces,” the lawbrother went on, expansively. “It makes him feel as if he’s accomplished something.” Hamada the law brothers advise at the first magic fair.
ReplyDeleteI would buy pritty much anything with this quot on it ^^
DeleteI almost forgot this one but highlighted it twice (before and after update removed first highlight)

ReplyDelete“I don’t care who gets the credit, let’s just save the day,”Min to Pen in Magelord
ReplyDelete“I don’t care who gets the credit, let’s just save the day,”Min to Pen in Magelord
ReplyDelete"give her an inch for me" stuck in my head for a while. Don't think it'd work on a shirt.
ReplyDeleteTerry question for you...there are several instances of Min hearing a voice to get him awake or back on track. In Magelord it is right after the dragon takes out traveler his horse. Is the voice and help Briga?
ReplyDeletei was presuming it was the ironite
Deletethere are references to the staff of the archmage taking an active role in politics
I assumed that it was the Oronin of Amaidia (spelling) who left his mark on the stone. We do not know he is dead he could be prisoner and unwillingly helping the dead god.

ReplyDelete“man is not molded from clay . . . he is pounded like hot iron on an anvil.”
ReplyDeleteI liked that one too
DeleteSeconded
Delete“Always act with confidence and assuredness, even when you don’t possess them yourself,” counseled Asgus, patiently. “If your men sense doubt in your orders, then they doubt everything else. ‘Tis better to be wrong decisively, than to be right and indecisive.” I nodded sagely.
ReplyDeleteLater half of Magelord, min staring at giant birds flying mountain admiring them then realizes 'those giant birds eat a goat a day'. Sorry it's not exact but it was better worded in the book. I also loved the statement "kill anything that's hairier than you".
ReplyDeleteWe work magic majesty, not miracles.
ReplyDelete(I suppose we learned better in the later books but I love that quote)
kill anything hairer than you are
ReplyDeletewriten in pyrwiness
"if i hadnt taken proper precautions i would have a dozen dusky bastards running around"

ReplyDeleteI think some of the artwork would be cool on mugs or shirts as well. It's abstract enough to be cool and different enough to be recognized by the fans. Like the pic of Olmeg planting a tree in magelord. Just a thought, but I'm passing it along anyway. Cheers Terry and thanks for all your hard work, same to Lance..
ReplyDeleteAlso "Magelord's prerogative" might be a good saying for print, not sure if it's been mentioned yet.
ReplyDelete"Then I saw the first Snowflake. I chose to take it as a good sigh. Mageslord's prerogative"
DeleteMilian said something among those lines in Magelord (already before the snowstone spell)
"First rule of fighting dragons in the future, I noted to myself: olfactory spells."
ReplyDelete“You, Spellmonger, are destined to become . . . the Archmage.”
ReplyDeleteit's probability, not divination!
DeleteEverybody Has To Be Somewhere. Where We Are, Are the Result of the Choices We Make. (Herus God of Travelers). Journeymage.
ReplyDeleteNecromancy ? Yes & Delman says Hello
ReplyDeleteAny updates on your publication schedule would be greatly appreciated....also it would be great if you could skip all of your other projects and just get to Minalin's next main book.

ReplyDeleteThat's the unfortunate thing about power. There's always some asshole out there with a little more power that you have to explain yourself to."
ReplyDeletethe first rule of power!
DeleteTerry - Any publishing updates to share?? Christmas is right around the corner and some Spellmonger would be a great gift. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, just writing to let you know court wizard is still unavailable on Amazon. I hope you get it fixed soon because I am really really really looking forward to finally reading it!
ReplyDeleteLove your books and so excited that I have 2 to read :D
"Mayhap they're small, but if you put enough o' them together, you can start a snowball fight. Or an avalanche".
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't have to say more.. cheers Terry!
"To quote the Spellmonger, 'I don't know, I'm making this up as I go along!'."
ReplyDeleteCheers Terry and Happy New Year to you and all the fans reading this
I looked toward the distant line of the foe, barely visible in the mists and shadows that haunted this dour little land, and I had but one thought: I really had to pee.
ReplyDeleteWhat about putting the various gods in the spellmonger world on things? Coffee mugs etc... I was thinking one or two gods per mug with little discriptions of each and popular sayings maybe, with a picture of each. Thought that would be cool, and possibly a popular collection! Cheers Terry, and thanks for releasing the Yule story! Which brings me to another point, you could also put holidays on the mugs or with the corisponding gods. Just an idea, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI hate a clever hobgoblin. (Journeymage)
ReplyDeleteYou need a cartoon picture of someone sleeping in bed with boots on and under it say "it was that kind of night". To me that was the quote that set up the whole series as one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI agree whole heartedly
DeleteIf you want to see a town throw a party, slay a dragon for it sometime.
